My son’s iPhone was in the washing machine for about 5 minutes. I extracted and put in rice and then on top of hot water cylinder. So now it starts up OK, but all the data got lost. How to recover data from a water damaged iPhone? I have some tips to share with you since I’ve solved the issue.
First, check if iPhone is damaged by water or not. Even if the device is dead there is still hope. If you tried everything and you think that your iPhone is beyond repair, it’s not too late to recover iPhone data. You can still try to recover your data from existing iTunes or iCloud backups. Whereas, using iTunes or iCloud is limited because you could risk overwriting all your data in the iPhone. And you can’t selectively recover the desired data. A better choice is to get a reliable iPhone data recovery software like iRefone (or Mac)even if the iPhone is in the deathbed.

Editor’s Note: When a phone is exposed to water or another liquid it is best to disassemble the phone, remove the battery and clean the logic board with the shields removed and cable ends and other electrical parts(not the display) with 90% or higher Isopropyl alcohol and a soft bristle brush, such as a toothbrush. The alcohol helps remove minerals left behind by water that lead to corrosion.
